His clinical focus is on adult and geriatric neuropsychology, and he also works as an independent consultant performing forensic neuropsychological evaluations in both civil and criminal matters. Why did you choose neuropsychology as a profession?
I discovered the field of neuropsychology while training to specialize in geriatric psychology. Prior to neuropsychology, I had a background in computer science and engineering, so the field’s emphasis on using objective tests to measure cognitive and psychological abilities and functioning was appealing to me. I recognized how important neuropsychological testing would be in evaluating older adults, so I decided to pursue the additional training and eventually specialized in the field. I enjoy that my training and profession allows me to work with clinical and legal referrals to accurately evaluate, diagnose, and inform an individual’s treatment plan or legal situation.
Why did you choose to work at Neurocognitive Specialty Group?
I chose to leave an established full-time independent practice of 7 years to work at NSG in order to gain the administrative and collegial support this group had to offer. NSG may be a nationwide company, but it embodies that small community warmth and collaboration that many of us Mississippians appreciate. In my short time with NSG, I already have witnessed our local practice grow considerably in terms of services and training other professionals, and I look forward to seeing how far our clinic will continue to evolve over time.
