Civil Forensic Neuropsychology

NSG provides independent, evidence-based forensic neuropsychological evaluations for civil litigation and insurance matters. Our forensic neuropsychologists work with defense and plaintiff counsel, insurance carriers, independent investigators, and government agencies, evaluating claimed traumatic brain injury (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other cognitive and psychological injuries. Every evaluation incorporates comprehensive performance and symptom validity testing, is conducted from a clinical, evidence-based perspective, and produces a defensible, well-documented report prepared to withstand cross-examination.

What a Forensic Evaluation Includes

A full forensic neuropsychological evaluation at NSG includes three components:

• Records and Collateral Review Comprehensive review of medical records, imaging, academic and employment history, prior testing, and deposition or incident documentation relevant to the claim.
• Standardized Testing with Validity Measures Norm-referenced neuropsychological and psychological testing, including embedded and stand-alone performance validity tests (PVTs) and symptom validity tests (SVTs).
• Defensible Reporting and Testimony A clear, well-documented report tying findings to records and data, with availability for depositions, trial testimony, and Daubert and Frye hearings.

NSG also accepts records-only engagements, providing consultation, record review, and rebuttal analysis of opposing expert reports without an in-person examination.

Civil forensic evaluations at NSG address questions including:

• Is the claimed cognitive impairment consistent with the injury, records, and test data?
• Do performance and symptom validity measures support the reported symptoms?
• What portion of any impairment predates the incident in question?
• What is the claimant’s functional capacity for work and independent living?
• What is the expected course: is the condition static, improving, or progressive?
• Does the individual have the capacity to manage finances, make medical decisions, or execute a will?
