Our Plano Clinic

Neurocognitive Specialty Group’s Dallas clinic is located in Plano, minutes from Medical City Plano, serving the greater DFW metroplex.

The clinic is directed by Dr. Erin Sullivan-Baca, a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist who has held leadership roles in the DFW Neuropsychological Association and the Dallas Psychological Association. She practices alongside neuropsychologists Dr. Brittany Walls and Dr. Gavin Sanders, and Dr. Monica Nghiem, a pediatric and adult neuropsychologist who anchors the clinic’s pediatric services: the Plano office evaluates adults and older adults, and offers select evaluation services to children and adolescents age 10 and older. Our doctors’ training runs deep in North Texas — Dr. Walls served on the faculty of UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Sanders completed his two-year residency there, and Dr. Nghiem trained at Children’s Health Andrews Institute and UT Southwestern.

Our office is a ground-floor suite in Building 2 at 4601 Old Shepard Pl, with parking directly in front. We see patients Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and most new evaluations begin in the morning so testing finishes comfortably within the day.

Our site coordinator, LJ, helps with scheduling, records, and day-of logistics for Plano patients, and she also assists with test administration. Our psychometrists administer and score standardized tests under the supervision of our doctors — testing is a big part of your evaluation and they are trained to keep it running smoothly and comfortably.

Neuropsychological & Psychological Evaluations

We accept referrals from neurologists, psychiatrists, and primary care physicians for:

• Memory loss, dementia, and age-related cognitive change — including early Alzheimer’s disease, vascular cognitive impairment, and distinguishing normal aging from something more
• Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders — an area of particular depth: Dr. Walls completed her fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute with research spanning Parkinson’s disease and deep brain stimulation
• Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-concussion concerns
• Pediatric sport-related concussion, including return-to-play and return-to-learn decision-making for young athletes
• Epilepsy and seizure disorders, including pre-surgical evaluation
• Stroke and other neurological conditions
• ADHD and learning concerns in adults and adolescents
• Psychodiagnostic evaluations on psychiatric referral

Every evaluation includes a records review, a clinical interview, standardized testing with a doctoral-level provider, and a detailed written report with diagnostic impressions and practical recommendations — delivered to you and your referring provider. Most testing appointments take between three and five hours, and results are available within a week.

Children and adolescents age 10 and older can be seen for select evaluations with Dr. Nghiem, whose combined clinical and school psychology training means findings translate into practical school recommendations and accommodations. We welcome pediatric referrals from pediatricians, pediatric neurologists, athletic trainers, and schools.

Medicolegal Evaluations

The Dallas clinic conducts civil independent medical examinations, records-only reviews, Defense Base Act claims, sports concussion and NFL litigation, fitness-for-duty assessments, and FAA and HIMS evaluations — including FAA Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) Tier 2 psychological evaluations — retained by counsel, insurers, third-party administrators, and government agencies. Every matter is billed hourly. NSG does not accept letters of protection or contingency-based fee arrangements, because an expert opinion should carry no financial stake in the result.

Our Plano clinic serves the greater Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, including Dallas, Richardson, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Carrollton, Addison, The Colony, Garland, Plano’s neighboring mid-cities, and patients traveling from Denton and Fort Worth. We regularly see patients referred from Medical City Plano and physicians throughout North Texas. Patients coming from central Dallas should allow about 30 minutes via the Dallas North Tollway or US-75.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Plan to arrive a few minutes early with your photo ID, insurance card, a list of current medications, and any prior imaging, neurology, or psychological records you have. Wear your glasses or hearing aids if you use them, take your medications as usual unless your physician has said otherwise, and eat breakfast — testing can be mentally demanding and we want your best effort. You’re welcome to bring a family member; we often ask a spouse or adult child a few questions, and they can wait comfortably in our lobby during testing.

Do I need a physician referral?
Yes — clinical evaluations require a physician referral. If you don’t have one yet, call us anyway: we can schedule your appointment and contact your provider to request the referral.

How long does a neuropsychological evaluation take?
Most patients are with us for three to five hours, including the interview and testing.

Do you evaluate children?
Yes — select evaluations are available for children and adolescents age 10 and older, including sport-related concussion assessment with return-to-play and return-to-learn guidance. Call us to get started.

Will my insurance cover the evaluation?
We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Aetna, Optum United Healthcare, Evernorth Cigna, Humana, TRICARE West/TriWest, and others — call us to verify your benefits, or see our billing & insurance page. Forensic and medicolegal work is retained and billed separately and is never billed to health insurance.

When will I get my results?
You’ll receive a feedback session and a written report within a week of testing. Your referring physician receives the report as well.
