Our Ridgeland Clinic

Neurocognitive Specialty Group’s Mississippi clinic is located in Ridgeland, just north of Jackson, serving the metro area and patients from across the state.

The clinic is directed by Dr. Anne Carlew, a clinical neuropsychologist with specialized expertise in dementia, decision-making capacity, and civil forensic evaluation. She practices alongside Dr. Jessica Utley, a clinical psychologist and Mississippi State-trained Mississippian who evaluates both adults and children age 10 and older, with particular focus on ADHD, autism, and complex psychiatric presentations.

Our office is a ground-floor suite in a freestanding office building at 735 Avignon Dr, with handicap-accessible parking directly outside — look for the NSG sign out front. We see patients Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and most new evaluations begin in the morning so testing finishes comfortably within the day.

Our Staff

Our doctors are supported on site by Aziza, our Site Coordinator. Aziza coordinates scheduling, records, and day-of logistics for Ridgeland patients, and she also assists with test administration under our doctors’ supervision.

Neuropsychological & Psychological Evaluations

We provide comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for adults, and for children and adolescents age 10 and older. We accept referrals from neurologists, neurosurgeons, geriatricians, primary care physicians, psychiatrists, rehabilitation providers, and other medical specialists for:

• ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults
• Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) evaluations
• Memory loss, dementia, and mild cognitive impairment
• Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and concussion
• Stroke and other acquired brain injuries
• Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders
• Complex psychiatric presentations requiring diagnostic clarification

Every evaluation includes a records review, a clinical interview, standardized testing, and a detailed written report with diagnostic impressions and practical recommendations — delivered to you and your referring provider. Most testing appointments take between three and five hours, and results are available within a week.

Children and adolescents age 10 and older are seen by Dr. Utley, whose evaluations translate into practical school recommendations and accommodations. We welcome pediatric referrals from pediatricians, family physicians, and schools.

Forensic and Independent Evaluations

The Mississippi clinic serves attorneys, insurers, employers, third-party administrators, and government agencies throughout Mississippi and nationally. Forensic services include independent medical examinations involving traumatic brain injury, concussion, PTSD and other psychological conditions, cognitive impairment, disability, and functional capacity. The clinic also provides fitness-for-duty evaluations, decision-making capacity evaluations, worker’s compensation evaluations, records-only reviews, consultation and review of neuropsychological and psychological evaluations, and expert witness testimony at deposition and trial.

Dr. Carlew has specialized expertise in assisting courts in determination of decision-making capacity and retrospective capacity analysis (such as testamentary capacity), civil litigation involving PTSD or TBI claims, and fitness-for-duty evaluations. Forensic work is billed hourly, and NSG does not accept letters of protection or contingency-based fee arrangements.

Telehealth Across 40+ States

Through PSYPACT, our Ridgeland providers offer telehealth appointments to patients in more than 40 states — including pre-screening consultations, clinical interviews, follow-ups, feedback sessions, and select assessments via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. In a state where many patients would otherwise drive hours for specialty care, much of the process can happen from home.

Our Ridgeland clinic serves the Jackson metropolitan area, including Jackson, Madison, Flowood, Brandon, Pearl, Clinton, Canton, and surrounding communities in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin counties. We also regularly see patients traveling from the Mississippi Delta, the Gulf Coast, north Mississippi, and rural communities where access to specialized neuropsychological services is limited, as well as referrals from neighboring states, including the Louisiana Delta. We regularly see patients referred from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, St. Dominic’s — including its neuroscience center — Baptist Medical Center, Merit Health, and physicians throughout the region.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Plan to arrive a few minutes early with your photo ID, insurance card, a list of current medications, and any prior imaging, neurology, or psychological records you have. Wear your glasses or hearing aids if you use them, take your medications as usual unless your physician has said otherwise, and eat breakfast — testing can be mentally demanding and we want your best effort. You’re welcome to bring a family member; we often ask a spouse, parent, or adult child a few questions, and they can wait comfortably in our lobby during testing.

Do I need a physician referral?
Yes — clinical evaluations require a physician referral. If you don’t have one yet, call us anyway: we can schedule your appointment and contact your provider to request the referral.

How long does a neuropsychological evaluation take?
Most patients are with us for three to five hours, including the interview and testing.

Do you evaluate children?
Yes — Dr. Utley evaluates children and adolescents age 10 and older, including ADHD and autism spectrum evaluations, with recommendations written for real use at school and home. Call us to get started.

Will my insurance cover the evaluation?
We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi, Aetna, Optum United Healthcare, Evernorth Cigna, Humana, TRICARE West/TriWest, and others — call us to verify your benefits, or see our billing & insurance page. Forensic and medicolegal work is retained and billed separately and is never billed to health insurance.

When will I get my results?
You’ll receive a feedback session and a written report within a week of testing. Your referring physician receives the report as well.
