Clinical Neuropsychologist
Education: Dr. Jessica Groberio earned her PhD from Texas A&M University in 2016, following a Master of Education at Texas A&M and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where she graduated cum laude. She completed her predoctoral internship on the clinical neuropsychology track at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, training under Dr. Robert Collins, Dr. Nicholas Wisdom, Dr. Brian Miller, Dr. Jane Booth, and Dr. Nicholas Pastorek.
Fellowship: Dr. Groberio completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco. Her rotations included the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, where she evaluated patients with rare neurodegenerative, autoimmune, genetic, and developmental disorders; the UCSF Epilepsy Center, working with pre-surgical epilepsy candidates; and the Polytrauma Network Site, working with veterans with acquired brain injury.
Employment: Dr. Groberio has been with Neurocognitive Specialty Group since 2021 and is licensed in California, Texas, and New York. She previously served as a research neuropsychologist in the Polytrauma/TBI clinic at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, studying cognitive training protocols for veterans with a history of traumatic brain injury, and has held clinical neuropsychology positions at the California Brain Health Center and Foresight Mental Health.
Forensic Specialty Areas: Dr. Groberio conducts psychodiagnostic and neuropsychological evaluations for forensic and disability matters, with a primary focus on Defense Base Act (DBA) claims.
Research: Dr. Groberio has published on executive function training in veterans with comorbid PTSD and mild traumatic brain injury, telehealth delivery of neuropsychological services, and post-traumatic stress following traumatic injury. She has presented at the International Neuropsychological Society and the American Psychological Association, and has lectured on telehealth assessment practices to Department of Defense mental health professionals.
